03.    The Royal Mile

The Royal Mile is the main artery that runs through the heart of Edinburgh. It joins the elevated fortress of Edinburgh Castle with the Palace of Holyroodhouse and received its legal name in the 16th century because the king would use the cobbled through-fare to travel between the two. 08.    Princes Street and Gardens

Princes Street and Gardens run parallel, The street was named by King George III in honor of his two eldest sons, Prince George, and Prince Fredrick. Prince Street is the long shopping thoroughfare that along with princess Street Gardens separates the old and new town of Edinburgh.
